Air Conditioning

Keeping your home and business at the right temperature

Air Condition

Air conditioning (often referred to as AC, A/C, or air con) is the process of removing heat and moisture from the interior of an occupied space to improve the comfort of occupants.

Air conditioning can be used in both domestic and commercial environments. This process is most commonly used to achieve a more comfortable interior environment, typically for humans and other animals; however, air conditioning is also used to cool and dehumidify rooms filled with heat-producing electronic devices, such as computer servers, power amplifiers, and to display and store some delicate products, such as artwork.

Power saving tips

  • If you have electric heat, lower your thermostat by two degrees to save 5% on your heating bill. Lowering it five degrees could save 10%
  • Cut one load of wash per week, even if you're already using cold water only, and you could save on your laundry costs.
  • Keep your fridge and freezer at their ideal temperature. For your fridge this is between 2 and 3 degrees C and your freezer should be at -18 C
  • A microwave takes 15 minutes to do the same job as 1 hour in an oven.
  • A dry towel added to your dryer load can significantly reduce drying times.
  • Professional draught-proofing of windows, doors and blocking cracks in floors and skirting boards can save energy. DIY draught proofing can be much cheaper.
